Barbara S. Murphy

Barbara S. Murphy, 85, of Kentland, Indiana, passed away in her home Saturday, May 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Rita (Fetters) Stineman. Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of St. Scholastic High School in Chicago. She lived in Houston, TX, for many years. During that time, Mrs. Murphy, a trained hospice volunteer, had a Bed & Breakfast out of her home for cancer patients. This mission brought her great joy. Mrs. Murphy was also involved in the Special Olympics for many years. She was married to the love of her life, Bernard Murphy, on August 13, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by two daughters, Kelli (Daniel) Cordis of Cocoa Beach, Florida and Erin Murphy of Kentland, Indiana; one son, Patrick Murphy of Cocoa Beach, Florida; four grandchildren; one sister, Susan (LeRoy) Endre of Prospect Heights, Illinois, and one brother, Lawrence (Maggie) Stineman of Waleska, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Murphy, son, Christopher Murphy, and sister, Janet Valtierra (John).

Services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kentland, Indiana, as follows: Visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (CST); funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. (CST); interment following funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery; and lunch at St. Joseph Catholic Church school basement. Father Richard Weisenberger will be officiating. Memorials may be given in her name to Special Olympics.
