Helen Maxine Strole Treado, 82, Kentland, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook.

She was born in Rensselaer, IN , on June 13, 1942, the daughter of F. Joseph and Luella (Hogle) Strole. On August 12, 1961, she married Jeremy R. Treado, who survives her.

Helen graduated from Brook High School in 1960. She was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother who actively contributed to the community in many ways throughout her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kentland and its Women’s’ Auxiliary.

Her greatest satisfaction, besides her children, grandchildren and “adopted” grandchildren, was her lifelong involvement with 4-H. She was a member of the Home Economics Club, active in volunteer leadership positions with the Newton County Pun’kin Vine Fair, and a strong advocate for the Domestic and Fine Arts Building. She was a valuable resource to other 4-H members, sharing her knowledge of sewing, cooking, and baking and winning numerous ribbons for her County Fair exhibits.

She and her husband Jeremy were active supporters of South Newton High School music and theatre productions and members of the South Newton Music Boosters and the South Newton Production Company. Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, reading, playing bingo, and cheering on Purdue sports teams.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jeremy Treado of Kentland; five children, Albert (Eileen) Treado, Glen Ellyn, IL, Joe Treado, Kentland, Tim (Laura) Treado, Chana, IL, Suzanne Lemen, Goodland, and Delcy (Butch) Early, Greenwood, IN; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Hood, Goodland, Jennifer Treado (Brandon Storey), Indianapolis, Helen (Chris) O’Mara, Indianapolis, Richard Lemen, Kentland, Evan Miller, Whiteland, Jeremy Treado, Memphis, TN, Connor Treado, Indianapolis, Abigail Treado, Lombard, IL, Garrett Miller, Greenwood; one brother, Allen Strole, Rensselaer; four great grandchildren and numerous “adopted” grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Luella Strole, a brother Wayne, and a sister Margaret, who died shortly after birth.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 from 10 am (CST) until time of funeral mass at 11 am (CST) at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kentland. Interment will be held privately.
