Jerry “Joe” Donnoe , 77, was born January 5, 1945 in Frankfort, Indiana to, the late, Roy and Frances (Bayless) Donnoe. He departed this world on October 29, 2022.
Joe worked at Alcoa and then Faubers Construction in Lafayette, Indiana as a young adult helping to build the Staley Tate & Lyle factory where he later took a job. Joe worked as the Lead Maintenance and Safety Coordinator for 32 years at Staley Tate & Lyle from where he retired. After his retirement he continued to consult for Dow AgroScience on a part-time basis. In retirement he enjoyed gardening and farming on the small farm in Benton County, Indiana where he and his wife have resided for the last 19 years.
Joe married Cheri (Oliver) Donnoe on October 26,1963 and they recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. Joe and Cheri had two children, five grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Joe believed in working hard and loved his family beyond all else. He also had a lifelong love for animals, especially his dogs; Shep, Bubba, Gus and Sammy. In his spare time, he found joy in reading, collecting farm toys and driving his antique John Deere tractor.
He is survived by wife, Cheri (Oliver) Donnoe, brothers, Roy Eugene Donnoe and Ivan Lewis Donnoe, sister, Marie Donnoe, children, Kim (Jeff) Vandergraff and Jerry Joe Donnoe II, grandchildren, Karissa (Nathan) Hodson, Jerry Joe “Joey” Donnoe III, Shelby Vandergraff (Ben) Helmerich, Grace Donnoe, Allee Donnoe and great-grandsons, Ramsey Joe Donnoe and Harrison Hodson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Frances Donnoe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials for the family may be sent to the funeral home or to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) in his honor.
