Kay Ellen Lopp, 85, passed away in Brook, Indiana on May 19, 2024 after a long illness. Kay was born November 17, 1938 to Ella(Dubea) and Virgil Potts in Morocco, Indiana where she grew up among cousins adjacent to Willow Slough. She graduated from Morocco High School in 1957, and she married Merrill Lopp on August 30, 1959.
Merrill and Kay settled in rural Kentland, Indiana where they raised their family and lived happily for nearly 56 years. Kay was a long-time member of Mt. Zion United Methodist church and a Cubs fan. She enjoyed decorating her home and was a collector of antiques, baskets, pottery, and furnishings. In addition to assisting her husband in his business and on their farm, Kay held a variety of positions at local businesses and retired after 20 years from Newton County Sheriff’s Department.
Kay is survived by sister, Sandy Lawson of Litchfield Park, Arizona, son, Roger (Maureen) Lopp of Dillon, Colorado, daughter, Julie Liebbe of Lafayette, Indiana, grandson, Sean (Madison) Lopp, great-grandchild, Liesl of Evergreen, Colorado, and granddaughter, Colleen (Kyle Barnett) Lopp of Manitou Springs, Colorado.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from 9:00 AM CST until the funeral service at 10:00 AM CST at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kentland, Indiana. Interment to follow at Buswell Cemetery, Kentland, Indiana with Pastor Matt Baughman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Kentland, Indiana.
