Kenneth Joseph Hofmeyer

July 5, 1959 — June 12, 2024

Fowler

Kenneth (Ken) Hofmeyer, 64, of Fowler, IN, born to the late Thomas and Margaret (Schwartz) Hofmeyer (still living) July 5, 1959 passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Ken was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Ken married Christine (Chris) Glotzbach on April 12, 1980 and was a loving father to their four children: Sarah, Jacob (Becca), Maria, and Elizabeth. His living grandchildren are Remington, Huntley, Elliette, and Baby Hofmeyer. His four living siblings are William Hofmeyer, Lori (Paul) Shultz, Alan (Lesa) Hofmeyer, and Carol (Beau) Chapman. He was loved by his mother-in-law (Shirley Glotzbach), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, 35 nephews and nieces, and 29 great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, eldest sister, Katherine Hofmeyer, grandchild, Grayson Waylen Hofmeyer, and father-in-law (Donald Glotzbach).

Ken was a lifelong practicing Catholic and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Holy Name Society in Earl Park, IN. His faith was the cornerstone of his life.

Ken spent his childhood and teenage years working on the family grain and livestock farm before buying into the farming operation as a young adult. He founded KenBuild Construction in January 1987.

Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and treasured the time spent with Sarah while constructing puzzles, playing UNO, reading, and traveling to American Girl stores; assisting Jacob with home improvement projects and visiting construction sites; gardening and cooking with Maria; completing outdoor tasks and playing board games with Elizabeth; and taking his grandchildren to the Fowler Town Park or giving them rides on farm equipment. He was a master woodworker, garden enthusiast, creative chef, and spatially-gifted dissectologist. He spent a great deal of time studying about and promoting the importance of healthy food options, remedies, and lifestyles.

Ken was a very quiet person who enjoyed listening to others and celebrating their accomplishments and successes. He was always willing to find ways to better the lives of those around him – helping others, teaching ways to work smarter, not harder. He had a great sense of humor and cracked jokes to brighten others’ days. He had a stealth manner for sneaking up on others to startle them. He will always be remembered fondly by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

There will be no public visitation prior to Ken’s funeral services held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Seminarian Carter Schmitt will lead the Rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m., with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
