Kenneth Eugene "Gene" Zeider

Kenneth Eugene (Gene) Zeider, 87, of Goodland, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023 at White Oaks Assisted Living after many months of battling illness. Gene was born January 25, 1936 to, the late, Kenneth E. and Wilma J. (Young) Zeider.

He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1954.

Gene and his wife Carroll owned and operated the Goodland Red Fox in Goodland for 26 years.  Gene also worked as a meat cutter at the Remington IGA until age 83.

Gene loved golfing at Hazelden Club and following his grandchildren to all their sporting events and activities.  In his later years, Gene enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cottage on Lake Freeman in Monticello.  Most recently Gene was blessed with 2 great-granddaughters whom he loved spending time with.

Gene leaves behind son, Steve (Cathy) Zeider of Goodland, granddaughter Cassie (Brett) Morgan of Indianapolis, grandson Jordan Zeider of Zionsville, great-granddaughters, Ellie and Josie Morgan and sister-in-law Teresa Nice of Lafayette as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Carroll Zeider and daughter, Julie Zeider.

Visitation will be held at The Goodland Baptist Church Friday, August 11, 2023 from 11-1 CST. Funeral Service will follow at 1 pm CST with Pastor Robert Rawlins officiating. Procession to interment to follow at Goodland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Baptist Church of Goodland.
