Margaret Ann Larson (Ann), known for her kind and gentle heart, her exceptional generosity and joyful laughter, left this world on June 22, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born on August 23,1951 in South Bend, IN to Donald and Gertrude Geyer, Ann’s journey took her from the schoolyards in South Bend to the classrooms in Brook and Kentland, IN.
She graduated LaSalle High School in 1969 and earned a Bachelors of Science in Education and a Special Education Endorsement from Indiana University.
She married her love, Hubert Larson, on August 11, 1973. They built a beautiful life together in Kentland, IN and were blessed with two daughters, April and Whitney, and four grandsons who brought her endless joy - Hume, Garrett, Cy and Eli Sammons.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. A gifted seamstress and teacher. She was full of faith and active in the church community. She loved being outside— gardening, tending to her flowers, and listening to the birds. A cup of coffee on the deck was how she loved to start her day. She could play a tune or hang a spoon from her nose, and was proud of it! In retirement, she looked forward to nap time.
To her last day, there isn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her family.
Above all, Ann was kind and generous to everyone she met. If you came over to visit or work in the yard, there was nothing you could say to stop her from making you cookies and fresh lemonade. If you hinted at a project you’d like to make, she’d be there the next day with a pile of supplies and ideas for how to create. She led her life with a heart full of kindness and was devoted to her faith.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh Larson; her daughters April Sammons (Jim), Whitney Larson (Jon Schintler); grandsons Hume, Garrett, Cy, and Eli Sammons; her brother Kevin Geyer (Sheila); sister-in-law Linda Lisenko (Dan); nephew Kevin Geyer (Amy) and niece Amy Geyer (Kyle Erwin); aunts and cousins.
Ann did not wish to have a formal funeral service. Her ashes will be laid to rest near one of her favorite garden areas at her home so she can always be near her family. If you are driving by, be sure to give her a wave and a smile.
Ann was grateful for the exceptional team and care she received at Franciscan Hospital in Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, she’d be honored for any donations be made to the Franciscan Health Foundation Cancer/Oncology Department — in West Lafayette. Western Indiana Giving -
