Marilyn Sue (Abbott) Holscher, 78, of Fowler, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on February 5, 2024 after a brave battle with cancer.
Marilyn was born June 24, 1945 in Fowler, Indiana, the daughter of Ford Simpson and Clara Elizabeth (Jones) Abbott. Marilyn was the seventh of eight children that were raised on a small family farm and later moved to Fowler.
Marilyn attended Fowler High School and was a part of the graduating class of 1963. She met the love of her life, Joseph “Bussie” Holscher when her family moved to town. They dated until they were married on November 16, 1966. They have been married for 57 years.
She was an avid reader who was known for her meticulous handwriting and bookkeeping skills. She also had a love of flowers and birdwatching. She took delight in feeding the birds in her backyard. She also enjoyed working at State Farm in West Lafayette following high school.
In 1973 Marilyn left State Farm when she and Bussie welcomed their daughter, Tracy Renee. In 1976 their son, John Casey was born. Marilyn and Bussie set phenomenal parental examples.
In 1983 Marilyn and Bussie started Holscher Products together. In the beginning when Bussie was still working another job Marilyn would answer the phones and even help with some of the shipping and make deliveries. She was always doing the “behind the scenes” work for the business until she retired in 2010.
Marilyn was a member of the Fowler United Methodist Church and was blessed to be a part of the Just Friends Group. She had unwavering faith in God and set a strong Christian example for her family.
Marilyn was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, friend, & grandmother. She truly enjoyed all her special moments with every one of her granddaughters.
Lovingly know as Grandma, Marilyn has created countless memories for all of her granddaughters. She loved spending time at all their various sporting events and activities as their biggest supporter! They will each cherish special memories with their Grandma forever.
Special thanks from her family to all of her close friends that have visited, brought food, and kept her spirit high. Fowler is a very special town. We would also like to extend a special thanks to June Villinski and Franciscan Hospice and her personal Hospice nurse Bob for their exceptional end-of-life care they provided.
