Kentland

Randy C. Bridgeman, 66, of Kentland, passed away Thursday, August 3 at Franciscan St. Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point, IN. He was born January 22, 1957 in Gary, IN to Charles and Barb Bridgeman. Randy graduated from South Newton High School. During that time, he was an accomplished football and track star. He married his forever love, Marci on July 23, 1977. In their 40 years of marriage, they faced many joys and sorrows and were together through sickness and health until her passing in May 2018. They had two children, Tyson and Taylor. He was “Poppy” to his five grandchildren, Hayden, Hunter, Kendrick, Lillianne, and Kehlaini. Randy worked for Wilson Painting and then as a contractor in the local area. He was a friend to many and loved to stop and visit with people. In the past several years, he enjoyed growing his garden, mowing lawns for family, driving around with his dogs, and cooking. More than anything, Randy loved the outdoors and fishing, hunting, and trapping. He learned to hunt and fish with his grandfather and father and shared that love of the outdoors with his son. He also enjoyed looking for arrowheads and grew quite a collection over the years. He is survived by his children, Tyson (Emily) of Brook and Taylor of Lafayette; grandchildren, Hayden, Hunter, Kendrick, Lillianne, and Kehlaini; mother, Barb Bridgeman of Brook; sisters, Kim (Dave) Padgett of Brook, IN and Kathy (Tom) Sondgerath of Kentland, IN; along with many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marci, father, Charles; brother, Rick; and his grandparents, Arnold ‘Pop’ and Ruth Doty and Jake and Sarah Bridgeman. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking memorials be made to the Town of Brook for trees to be planted in Randy’s memory. Arrangements entrusted to Gerts, Windler & Keller Funeral Homes ~ Brook Chapel, 129 E. Main St., Brook, IN  47922.  (219) 275-6161.  www.kellerfh.com
