Sue Darlene (Hendryx) Rawles Barrett, 82, of West Lafayette, died February 22, 2023. Sue was born July 23, 1940, the daughter of, the late, Chester A. “Whitey” and Susie Valentine (Darnell) Hendryx. She was a graduate of Brookston High School and Indiana Business College. Sue was an avid Purdue and Cubs fan and enjoyed going to her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed reading, the 4H and playing cards. She was a member of Fowler United Methodist Church and several card clubs. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Earl B. Rawles, sisters, Dona Hansen and Eddie Carter, brothers, Gordon, J,D, Rex and Carl Hendryx. She is survived by her husband, Patrick Joseph Barrett, children, E. B. (Janelle) Rawles of Sandborn, IN, Tom Rawles of Lafayette, John (Monique) Rawles of Brookston and Susie (Brian) Geswein of West Lafayette, grandchildren, Nick (Mallory) Rawles, Shelby (Daniel) Seiltz, Whitney Rawles, Zach (Lauren) Rawles, Rachel Rawles, Zach Geswein, Brianne Geswein and Paige Geswein, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm Friday, February 24, 2023 and 10-11am Saturday February 25, 2023 at the Fowler United Methodist Church followed by a Celebration of life service at 11am with Pastor Mary van Wijk officiating. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. There will be a private committal. Memorials may be made to the Fowler United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association.
