Sandie Gale (Fields) Richards

Sandie Gale Richards, age 61, of Brook passed away unexpectedly November 20, 2023, at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, IN following a brief illness.  On July 17, 1962, in Edmonton, KY, Sandie was born to Annette and Bedford Fields. Sandie was a graduate of North Montgomery High School in Linden IN. On September 7, 2002, she married Thomas F. Richards who preceded her in death on January 8, 2021. Sandie was an avid dirt track racing fan along with her husband Tom. Sandie enjoyed working on crafts or coloring in her spare time. Sandie was a faithful caregiver to her husband once he became sick up until his recent passing. Together they were blessed with 24 years of marriage and were blessed to raise their son, Shawn, whom they both adored. Sandie currently worked at George Ade Healthcare Center in Brook, where she had been working for the past several years. Sandie was very well known and loved within the community as she had worked at the gas station in town (known as George’s to many in the community) for roughly 15 years where she made many friends and became to know everyone who went into the gas station. Sandie never knew a stranger as everyone she met, she loved them as if they were her family. A soft gentle kindhearted soul, Sandie would take time out of her day to speak with whomever she had come across just to catch up for old time’s sake. Being the faithful caregiver she was, Sandie would always put others before herself to make sure they were comforted and cared for when it was needed. Sandie loved her family and friends unconditionally and did anything and everything she could for them. Sandie is survived by her son, Shawn Fields and her mother, Annette Fields. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, father, Bedford, and a few siblings. Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Brook First Christian Church. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. at the Church with Pastor Chauncey Lattimer officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Brook, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Brook.
